Trainers Thoughts

We wanted to hit the ground running last Friday and we did exactly that. Alfirak did the business in the Galaxy Racing Syndicate Silks and brought up our 50th winner. Geo is back in action on Friday night over a much more suitable trip in the conditions race at 7 pm while Dance Alone and Tribal Path will take their chances too in the 7f apprentice handicap at 6.30. Below are Damian’s thoughts on the chances of the Grougha Stables runners at Dundalk this Friday.

Geological and Stephen Mooney on the beach of Mornington

Tribal Path

It is a pleasure to have Tribal Path back in the yard and I am very grateful to the Bright Star Syndicate for bringing him home. Tribal has been enjoying the beach life in the last few weeks and it feels like he has never been away. I can’t wait to see him back in action at Dundalk and he will take his chance in the 7f handicap at 7 pm. Donagh O’Connor will take the ride as he knows Tribal inside out. Whatever he does tonight, he will come on for it and I am hoping he runs a nice race and comes home safe and sound.

Dance Alone

Dance Alone blew his chance in the stalls last time at Fairyhouse and it was very frustrating as he is usually razor sharp from the gates. I was still happy with the run, considering he broke so poorly, and he yet again ran his heart out to only be beaten five lengths. His owners, The On Each Way Syndicate, have christened Dance as the Iron Horse and I think it describes him perfectly. Hopefully, he breaks better tonight from another wide draw in stall 12. If he does he is capable of running a nice race and maybe even picking up some prize money with Stephen Mooney taking off a valuable 7lb.

What a horse this fella is! He overcame a bad draw over a trip short of his optimum to run an absolute cracker of a race for Stephen Mooney last week. Geo thrives on his racing and he was as happy as Larry throughout the week, so I am letting him take his chance again in this 6f contest. He has to give weight away to some younger rivals but Stephen’s 10lb claim should help and he has been handed a lovely draw in stall 1. I believe it will take a very good 3yo to beat Geo on his home patch and he is my best chance of a winner on the night.
