Dundalk 07-12-18

Trainer’s Thoughts

See Of Rome ran an excellent race last Friday under Andy Slattery to run third in the big race of the evening. Geological, off top weight, ran a little below best and has earned himself a nice winters break.

It is a busy night for Grougha at Dundalk this Friday night and we are hoping that all three of our runners go well. Dance Alone for the On Each Way Syndicate and Stanhope for the Galaxy Horse Racing Syndicate both go in the opener at 5.30pm, a 5f handicap. Confident Kid also runs in the 6.30pm in a competitive looking 7f handicap.

Below you can read Damian’s thoughts on all three Grougha entries at Dundalk this Friday night.

Confident Kid

Dance Alone and Stanhope

Stanhope will be making his debut for me in this 5f contest and Stephen Mooney will ride from stall 3. Stanhope has settled in very well to his new surroundings and I have been very pleased with his progress so far. We are still learning about him and whatever he does tonight he should improve for the outing. I am hopeful he will show up well for the Galaxy Racing Syndicate. Dance Alone has been running well of late but he just hasn’t had any luck. Rory was very happy with his run here over 5f last time so I have decided to keep him at this trip for now. Dance seems to be
on very good terms with himself at home and he has a nice racing weight. Rory Cleary will ride again, he has a decent draw in stall 6 and hopefully, he builds on his last run.

Confident Kid

Our only other runner on tonight’s card is Confident Kid in the 7f handicap at 6.30pm. He showed on his first run for me at the Curragh he has loads of ability, but there is no denying that his last couple of runs have been disappointing. However, he did
have an excuse last time as he burst a blood vessel in running. I have freshened him up since his last outing and all the signs at home have been good. Stephen Mooney rides and claims 7lb, he has a good draw in stall 3. Just like with Stanhope, whatever he does tonight he will improve for the run and hopefully gains some confidence after what happened on his last run. That being said, it wouldn’t surprise me if he ran a nice race for the Confident Kid Syndicate.
