It wasn’t to be at Galway for Tribal Path on Monday as his wide draw seemed to cost him and could never dominate the race as he likes. We will freshen him up once more and he will continue over the winter at Dundalk.
We had a very interesting week at the sales, picking up two new horses for the Bright Star Syndicate (North Wind and Swissterious) and two for Galaxy Racing (Stanhope and Trading Point). All four look like horses with huge potential and hopefully they settle into the beach life straight away. We have a couple of entries at Dundalk on Friday night and you can read Damian’s thoughts on their chances below.
Red Avenger takes his chance in the 8f claimer at 6.30pm and he will be reunited with his usual partner Rory Cleary. I thought Red ran a better race than his finishing position suggests last time in a claimer over 10f and he should appreciate dropping back in trip tonight.
I am happy with Red Avenger at home and he seems to be very well in himself. He has been handed a wide draw but Red doesn’t need to go forward so we will leave it to Rory to find a nice position for him early in the race, he will probably need a bit of luck in running to win this race but we will give it a go.
Geological takes his chance in the 6f handicap at 8.30pm and Rory will ride. Geo has been drawn 8 of 11, which isn’t ideal, but he ran a huge race from a worse draw on his last start here to finish 3rd.
He’s been in good form since his win over course and distance in August and we’re hopeful he can continue that form here tonight. The last time he ran over course and trip he finished a nose second to Breeders Cup Turf Sprint hopeful Lost Treasure and a repeat of either of his last two starts over 6f gives him a great chance here.
